I started to make this a reply to a comment in another thread, but felt it should have it's own post: the last paragraph of Sean Carroll's paper, "Does the Universe Need God?"
None of this amounts to a “proof” that God doesn’t exist, of course. Such a proof is not forthcoming; science isn’t in the business of proving things. Rather, science judges the merits of competing models in terms of their simplicity, clarity, comprehensiveness, and fit to the data. Unsuccessful theories are never disproven, as we can always concoct elaborate schemes to save the phenomena; they just fade away as better theories gain acceptance. Attempting to explain the natural world by appealing to God is, by scientific standards, not a very successful theory. The fact that we humans have been able to understand so much about how the natural world works, in our incredibly limited region of space over a remarkably short period of time, is a triumph of the human spirit, one in which we can all be justifiably proud.
Hi, Oro,
You earn website points, and help other members get to know you better, when you write an informational profile that includes your hobbies and interests, and answer all the profile questions, since that's the first place many people look when they see a new member.
Then you make comments and write your own posts to earn more points and privileges. You get different perks with each level, and when you reach level eight you get an agnostic T-shirt.
To find members near you, click on the "Meet" button at the top of the page, then on "Members," and enter your preferred search parameters.
Or click on the "About" button at the top of the page to find links to FAQ or the website tutorial.

Why are you posting this to a level 6?
@bingst Most women, including me, feel uneasy talking to someone, on any level, we know nothing about. I usually just block such profiles, and other women have mentioned feeling the same way. Men don't usually care about profiles, messaging women whose photos attract them, so don't realize that women care about safety.
@birdingnut Umm... what does that have to do with my question?
@bingst Nothing. I don't like to answer questions of men I know little about. I usually just block them. Everything I posted came from the website FAQ and their information, it's just that men often don't read them, or think it's important, since they don't care about profiles themselves.
"Does the Universe Need God?" Yes. (But there is none.)
Humanity cries out for universal and absolute justice. (But there is none.)
Humanity cries out for the end of innocent children suffering. (But there is none.)
Humanity cries out for a deity to vanquish all evil. (But there is none.)
The proof belongs who claim it exesists! Faith and felling is not proof or the I just know is not proof! They claim their god is all knowing and all powerful and perfect. Well that is proven wrong we have so many natural disasters, diseases, and poison animals and plants far from perfect. Our bodies are also far from perfect. Cancer, diabetes, polio, and the countless other things that effect us. So no we don't need something that does not exesist !
