They are not being caught trying to sneak through, they are entering purpose-built facilities where they are told they can apply (supposedly) for political asylum.....this is obviously Not "illegally entering"!!!!!

@AnneWimsey Not what I heard today (NPR politics podcast). If they are seeking asylum, that is at the border - not this side of it, or a city hundreds or thousands of miles from the border. And the border doesn't have the facilities or capacity to process the number of ‘requests’ it’s receiving, so they’re being turned away.

Those apprehended or awaiting trial for having entered illegally are being housed within the US. And families are no longer being given a ‘get out of jail free’ pass for having snuck into the country illegally. But, children cannot be held within a jail facility with it’s general population.

I realize this is an attack on the trump administration, but we’re not dealing with refugees of war, we’re attempting to stop a continuous flow of economic opportunists who illegally entered a sovereign nation.. Should we allow all of central america to empty due to our generosity, confusion, or stupidity?

Seeking asylum is not illegal. And in cases where some one makes it across a border, it is a misdemeanor. Terrorizing people by stealing their children is a cruel punishment, no matter the offense.

Actually under the laws of the 3rd Reich yes they did, being a Jew or the decedent of a jew and remaining in Germany was a crime. Being a Homosexual was a crime as it was in the USA too at that time and the UK and the majority of Europe., so was being a gypsy in Reich territory and so was being a Freemason or a Jehovah's witness.
So by the logic you posit, objecting to the "Final solution" was the act of a bleeding heart liberal acting against the law and the betterment of right thinking Aryan society, even if some pathetic left wingers did feel sorry for them, they should not have broken the law by being born in the wrong place.

These people are Not trying to sneak in, they are peacefully standing in line to apply for asylum in buildings (supposedly) designed to help them apply.

@mary25y No one is “stealing children.” The adults having brought them here, many as a hedge against being held, are awaiting trial or deportation. Far more serious than a “misdemeanor.”

They are allowed to seek asylum and must get in line ... but asylum from what? ‘Seeking asylum’ is the claim after being apprehended within our border. This is a worldwide problem, what makes it less serious or unimportant here?

Shoplifting minor items
Public drunkenness (Not vehicular)
Spitting on the sidewalk

I'm on your side 100%, what Trump has done is a crime against humanity, it is all very well for right wingers to scream "Illegal" and say the means justifies the end, but if it reduces you to the sort of monster that holds a child hostage to make a political point, the laws have no ethical foundation the people are right to call their leaders on it, a mark them for ever lasting shame on it

@LenHazell53 Heard an interview today on NPR (credit to them for finally airing ‘the other side’ ) describing how illegal immigrants had learned that ‘if they entered illegally with children,’ ‘they’d be released into the community (where they’d instantly disappear) due to the lack of holding facilities for families.’ These poor excuses for parents are using children as a method to escape deportation! And it’s no longer working … but you condone that..?
