Was watching a show that was saying how bad Heidi Fleiss was got me to thinking the laws are anti-prostitution in many places. Could not find the facts on this. One would think that if prostitution was legal that sex offenses would be lower.
I don't know brother.... that's tough to answer.
As @ErikGunderson says, a significant percentage of sex crime is motivated by a desire to exercise power over another individual, and as such legalised prostitution is not as likely to affect sex crime incidence. Secondly, it's a myth that legalisation/decriminalisation of prostitution reduces crime and violence suffered by prostitutes too - @Ellatynemouth posted a link to an absolutely horrific article a few days back in which women working legally as prostitutes described some of the things they suffer; I can't find the post now.
I wonder if it there is a psychology correlation to sex offenders and some trauma. For instance, they know most serial killers had suffered from a head injury in their youth to become as they are.
Well, prostitution and solicitation charges would certainly be lower!
I wouldn't expect that legalizing prostitution would have any appreciable effect on other kinds of sex crimes, which are at least as much about power and violence as they are about sexual release.
What would the standards be can`t run a brothel out of a home have to carry a health card that needs to be updated frequently?
