'So what does resistance to Trump look like? This is a question that has preoccupied me and millions of other Americans this past year. If fear gets sufficiently intense, or persists for long enough, we eventually move into “freeze” – meaning numbness and submission. This is my own greatest fear. As Trump violates one norm after another day after day, the risk is that we lose our sense of outrage and our motivation to speak out.

The challenge we face is to resist our own fear without sacrificing our outrage. That requires widening our perspective beyond Trump’s, and beyond Trump himself. The future is ours to shape, not his.'

EXPRESS YOURSELF! The old cliche about never speaking of politics is/should be passe! Make sure you aren't obnoxious, of course, but speak up! You never know when you might actually influence someone else to THINK! Let the anti-groper people know they're not alone. Have like-minded friends over for discussion groups. Have each of them invite someone new. Make sure you call to volunteer for working pools, registering people, etc.

Things you can do everyday if you like:

  1. Donate to the ACLU or similar, the courts are mostly still holding the line
  2. Program your device(s) with contact info for your "representatives" so it is quick & easy to make your opinions known.
  3. VOTE! "Not voting" is not a protest, it is acquiescence!

What does resistance look like? Maybe it's like that billboard sign near Rochester, MN that has the words "big mistake" and then Trump's picture on it. Supposedly the billboard sign was posted by Republicans for responsible government.

What does resistance look like? I think it's as simple as enthusiasm when we go to the polls, eye contact with people you meet in the community, strangers and acquaintances, greeting them, smiling and letting them know that today you are alive and engaged, aware of those around you, aware of your place in community and how important community is. We can either become suspicious of one another and wall off or we can build bridges, get the conversation going, even if it's simply recognition. Great post, moNO. 🙂

You're very kind. 🙂

@moNOtheist hahaha YES I am very kind. I'm also 53. By 53 we don't mince words, do we? I calls them as I sees them. 😉

Trump is great!

gater Level 7 June 20, 2018

Irony?

@moNOtheist Unfortunately not. He means it. Some of us are infinitely far from some others in our beliefs and perceptions.

Lol!

eegads, gator. How can a guy with such an interesting pic and cool moniker be such a patsy for a GOON?

@crazycurlz a patsy for a goon? Trump is a genius, those who do no realize that are not.

@gater YES, I totally agree. Trump IS a genius. He is one EVIL genius. He certainly has you snookered. You and about 40% of the voters in this country. He is definitely a genius. That doesn't mean he's not a GOON. Your point?

@crazycurlz What makes you think he is evil? Cant wait to hear this

@gater seriously?

@crazycurlz seriously

@crazycurlz If hes so evil a list should be easy for you.

@gater If you can't see what's under your nose, anything I have to say is energy wasted.

@crazycurlz gator does this all the time, realizing full well nobody has the time or energy to list even 10% of drumpys crap......

@crazycurlz Maybe you discovered that you can't find any examples of "evil" - its easy to throw words around.

thank you @AnneWimsey for the headsup...
