The difference between sects and religions lie in that religions have sects. Religions are not sects. Protestants have Methodists, Baptists, Shakers, Quakers....... Muslims have Shi’ites and Sunni’s. Buddhists have Theravada, Mahayana..... please don’t confuse the issue.

To me and to many intelligent people the "divisions /sects" you mention are all branches of the same poisonous tree...IAW, call it religions / sects / cults or whatever...are the same garbage....their internal approaches to the same imaginary friends universalize the individual definitions.
