That is one of the arguments in the lawsuits about the phrase “In God we trust” on currency. Most of the plaintiffs are atheists who object to having the government impose the phrase on us through currency. At least one of the plaintiffs in my district was a very religious Jew who objected to the use of God in this secular context, that it is disrespectful of God.
