The mass range comes from two things:

1. Water intake influences the thickness of the grey matter. People who have optimal intake also have better brain activity.

2. The average brain weight is not set in stone, it fluctuates from ~1350g to ~1450g based on the study one looks at.

3. Organic quality varies in people. If you have two people with identical upper brain structure but person A is a smoker, then person A cannot utilize his brain to the same extent and ease as person B because of Maslow's Hierarchy.
