I had a wonderful two days at the lake with my mom and grandma. It was a lot of fun, even though we couldn't go play in the water. I used to go camping every summer for weeks at a time, but after my accident and my mom's accident it was just too hard. We had a pop up camper that was a lot of work, and cutting and hauling firewood and water was too hard on us.

My grandma just got a large camper and great AC and so we went and stayed with her. It was almost like back when we would go. I miss it a lot.

I realized that I am just too broken to go camping anymore, though. At least like that. I can't sleep on the hard table bed anymore, my back was so shot this morning that I couldn't move, and I'm sleep deprived. I wouldn't be able to last any longer out there.

But it was fun while it lasted.

Do you love camping?

I do love camping, but usually for me it's festival camping.
I did get sick of walking miles with all the camping gear, luckily I bought myself an old folding caravan so now I can drive to my pitch & have slightly more comfort.

It is a shame you can't camp like you used to but would it not be possible to get a better mattress for your grandma's camper so you can go again?

It's a good idea. I'm sure there are a few things we could do to make it easier. But I'd always be relying on someone else.

@LadyAlyxandrea there are almost certainly some like minded & similarly abled people in the world. Maybe there could be a group that run camping type events that could work?
Glamping might be an option but likely more expensive.
My dad lost his lower left leg, but they managed to get a campervan converted so he can drive it. He & my mum are always away in it now they've retired

Can't beat it! I'll be out in Wales in my van tomorrow. So sad you're struggling with it now it's not something I'd be happy to give up
