I watch the news on a constant basis but all I see is white people who are being extremely racist to black people. The last story I saw was this white lady calling the police on a young boy boy. He had to be about 10 or 11. Her reason for calling the police "HE ACCIDENTALLY MOWED A PATCH OF HER YARD"!!. It's like I don't want to turn into a racist myself. Maybe I've already turned into one but it seems like the with the killing by police and everything it just feels like white people don't like us. Not all white people but the majority. When I was station in Germany I was treated as an equal. I was followed around the store giving ugly looks. I was just a regular customer who was about to spend money. It just feels like majority of white people in the united states hate us as a whole. Or if we become friends with them they say nigga and think it's ok or end up being racist while saying they aren't to other people of color. I know the trump election showed alot of people true color because he is a blatant racist but people still accept him because that how they really feel. He is just doing and saying anything without any real backlash I feel like. They definitely won't impeach him no matter what he says. So to me that sheds a light on what people will let a white man get away with. When I get in contact with a white person now. I just feel like I need to be extra friendly, extra proper, and extra understanding no matter how I'm treated because I know if a police officer were to get involved I know that I'm a black woman. So I'm going to seen as argumentative, loud, ghetto, violent etc. My tears won't mean anything like a white woman's will . I know this because I here the same story that I've come into contact with young and old in my 22 years of life. It seems like people will be quick to march for immigrants and to stick up for them than black people who are constantly looked down apon on a regular basis. I know the immigration situation is a very big deal and I take it very seriously but racism has been going on and no body is being penalized for it. But I bet if money was to be taken out of someone pension or retirement fund because of racism then I'm sure incidence would go down like killing and police officers would rely more on a taser or pepper than beating us while hand cuffed just because.

I agree. I can't imagine what it's like being black in America.

I am often reminded of my white privilege and I feel guilty and angry

In my opinion what you believe simply isn't true. But your belief that you are a victim of rampant racism may have a serious negative effect on your life, and the lives of any children you may have.

The Black Harvard Professor Roland G Fyer Jr studied police behavior and found that police are slightly less likely to use deadly force against a Black suspect than a White suspect. [nationalreview.com] In my opinion we do have a serious problem with trigger-happy police in the USA, and it affects all races.

The great Black economist Dr Thomas Sowell has written that it is belief in their own victimhood that is the major negative factor in the lives of poor Whites in the UK and poor Blacks in the USA. [townhall.com]

Immigrants come to the USA from Nigeria with black skin, and on average they earn slightly more than White Americans. They don't think of themselves as victims so they work hard and are quite successful. [en.wikipedia.org]

And my boss, a Black man, doesn't think he's a victim and neither do I. He is the third Black boss I have reported to during my long and well-paid career.

Yeah, you’ve hit a lot of issues here but I can see why it all gets jumbled together. A lot of white folks are angry about the culture shift too, and we can’t say it enough. the rise of Trump-fueled racism is shocking and appalling. yes, I knew there were still racists, but 5 years ago most racists knew to keep it to themselves because it was not socially acceptable. With the election of Trump, it seems like people are emboldened in their hate.

The current state of police interactions with POC is, I assume, a similar thing - it has probably always happened but people are more aware now because of cell-phone cameras and the internet. It’s disturbing, and it makes me angry, to see how white people yield the power of police as a weapon because they are uncomfortable with the presence of black and brown people. And it’s unacceptable how often police are acting as jury and executioner. And the combination of those things must be terrifying for POCs.

It’s definitely not, as you say, “all white people,” also not the majority I think, but still far too many people living in backwards ignorance. I’m sad and upset the POC are living in fear. I’m sorry for how this is affecting you and so many others. We are with you.
