Do you want unlimited free music?
I think it was Bill Clinton in 97 who unleashed it ALL.
Those local radio stations cannot do anything to stop you from getting thousands of audio/video streaming channels over the internet/world. Many channels of streaming Sirius satellite radio broadcasts to every inch of the US. When I drove a semi longhaul I had an XM satellite radio and a huge antenna. Drove cross the whole country with that sat radio without static or a break in service. Smooth as silk.
Radio stations everywhere are broadcasting on websites. Internet is where you can get ALL the thousands of free channels, from all over the world. ANY music you want. It's practically infinite. My stepdad carries 15,000 songs stored on his smartphone. Connects his smartphone to his truck radio and jams. I can run my smartphone audio thru my new digital car stereo. I can connect my smartphone to the car stereo by USB cable, aux wire, or bluetooth.
With Pandora you can make your own custom channels One of mine is my Robert Plant channel. You can add new songs to your station as they play random, just click save to your channel.
The iHeartRadio smartphone app has stations from everywhere with every genre I listen to it all the time. I also use iHeart app as an alarm. I wake up to music from any station I want.
Get a smartphone with a big unlimited data plan, add free google search app, free google maps app (best gps app for a smartphone, I use it everyday, I've been using gps since 1997), free soundhound app, free iHeartRadio app and free Pandora app.
There are free mp4 conversion websites that will convert a youtube song/video to mp4. If you convert it on your smartphone it will be automatically be stored on your smartphone.
Nerds UNITE!!
It's infinite!!
It's mind blowing!!
It's a nerd's wet dream!!
I subscribe to Amazon Prime music. I also buy singles I really like. I used to listen to Pandora, but the commercials (which pay for the music) annoyed me.
I'm not a fan -- in fact I'm vehemently against -- pirated music, movies, etc. Intellectual property should only be free if the person or company that owns the song says "Have at it. We want nothing in return."
IHeartRadio -- I've never listened to it, but I presume it has ads also, right?
I used to have XM back when it was new. It was awesome. Then Sirius bought them out and quite literally overnight they somehow managed to turn into something even worse than commercial radio. And that's really saying something, because commercial radio sucks puss infected donkey dicks and it has since the 1970's.
These days I use Tidal and Pandora.
I have used Pandora for a long time. Back during the Napster days I collected a fair amount of music to fill the holes in my collection. All on flash drives now and my receiver accepts them so I can listen to something specific or Pandora when I just want nothing special.
I had totally forgotten about Napster. They were a major pioneer in music. Flash drives hmmm
