Combined with food stamps it's a workable concept. Is it just another name for welfare? Will it be abused? Should the wealthy fund it? Anyone care to comment on the possible solution to technology putting many out of work in the near future? [msn.com]

And there is a thing called 'The Reserve Army Of Labour' (Marx/Engels).
It's already known about but never admitted to by our politicians. In a nutshell it means governments deliberately cultivate unemployment to keep inflation low. So there will always be more people than jobs.
If the government can spend hundreds of billions on nuclear weapons it can afford to give enough to its citizens to live decent lives.
