I listen to a lot of rock music, I usually blasts it during the work day. Often people come in look around and see me and they are confused. I've had black and white people ask me if I date black women, I immediately ask why? The response is well your black and your jamming in here, plus you are running the job right ( my helpers are usually older than me, and I look like a teenager, I'm 30. Lmao) yes. Well you don't seem like the type of BROTHA, to date black women. That shit always fucks with me I instantly get defensive. This young brother said I seemed too successful and spoke to well. He explained his situation to me , and his baby momma drama and how she was " bringing him down" , and that I seemed to smart to be involved with the bs. I had to correct his ass quick and let him know he needs to make better decisions in the women he chooses to date.

I'm not into it personally, but in software development there's a saying that the best coding is done at 120 decibels. It helps some people get into their flow.

I have no clue why someone would see a successful young black man in management and leap to generalizations about whether you date interracially or not ... seems like a non-sequitur to me, but maybe that's just me.

I think people are just trying to pigeonhole you into a stereotype and you don't clearly fit into any one of them. So you just keep doing you ... it's a good indication that you're on the right track for yourself.

Thank you , really appreciated

I hate the term 'inter-racial relationship'.

Okay. But, nobody mentioned that phrase.

@BlueWave

"Black and white people ask him if he dates black women"....

Is my comment inappropriate?

I will ask for your permission next time I comment.

@Ellatynemouth No need. It just seemed like an argument against a phrase that nobody mentioned.

@BlueWave

Have you read his post?

People ask him if he dates black women.

So here we have the issue of dating and the issue of race. It immediately conjured up in my mind the term 'interracial relationship'. I don't think my comment was inappropriate.

But here you are giving me a hard time and getting on my case. Why?

If you have a problem with me, please just block me instead of wasting your time and my time.

Well said.

Lol. I feel you! I listen to mostly RandB. Sometimes I listen to hard rock. Then you get the oh "he a white boy in a black mans body" the ignorance bro. Many think I was raised by "white" people until they find out where I'm from or they get crossed on the court. The stereotypes are real bro.

I've gotten that a lot too.

Stereotyping bums me out. Here's hoping it will fade away with the rest of racism, eventually.

It seems to me that black ladies are being put down by your co-workers or belittled and that is not cool at all! You can be a very powerful, successful man with a black lady at your side or the Hispanic at your side or an Asian at your side, a Caucasian or a Native American, if the lady is a good lady and not a lady who brings you down! Your co-workers you need to stay out of your business LOL

Pretty much, it's not necessarily my Co workers, but more so other trades that come in to work the house also( framers, plumbers, etc) . And yes that is exactly what it is, everytime the situation comes up , I choose my words carefully I feel like I'm representing black men and black women.
