If it’s a cool second job (hopefully) then all the better. Still, 8 years!! I’m surprised that after this much time “they” thought you were ready!

Ah it's my spending money so I'm good lol. I only work that job so I can save the money for things I want instead of bills. (Like marvel comics and hulu)

I would never be able to stay at a company that long without a raise. I would have asked after my 1 year anniversary. Then every 2-3 months thereafter. Then I would have been looking for a new job before my 2nd anniversary.

It's just a part time 1 day a week job so I never really thought about it. Plus it's paid by the government and right now I've been grateful to just get paid on time. When my mom was a social worker for the same type of company the government was always so late on paying them that the company went bankrupt and closed down because they'd been going 3-5 months without pay

@LadyAlyxandrea even at 1 day per week, it should have only taken 5 years for you to have enough days in to qualify for a pay raise.

Who do you work for? Is this because you went into another tax bracket and that is just the way it works out. I once cooked in a restaurant and after some time was sick for a day. Found out that if I worked four days I made a dollar more than if I worked five. Worked four days a week after that. Worked the other three at my own business. I was a lot younger.

No the company just decided to raise everyone's pay 38 cents.

@LadyAlyxandrea I cannot get over 38 cents, why not a dollar?

@dalefvictor it's such a weird random number. My other job goes by 25 cents but that's a better number lol

A whole 38 cents

I have been thinking about this. You live in Kansas, which I no nothing about with the exception that it has put into practice all of the Republican ideology. That actually may mean nothing. I think they had an amount of money that came from somewhere and they decided to share it with all their employees. To see if that makes any sense one would have to know how many employees exist, then multiply by .38 and you would have the starting amount they had to work with. I hope you work for a really large company. Any thoughts?

@dalefvictor I know that I'm the only one in my position that has stayed over two years. The turn over rate is 6 months. I know that 5 years ago they stopped giving Christmas bonuses of 100 dollars in chamber checks. They don't pay overtime or holiday pay at all. Offer no benefits. Have not promoted anyone in the 8 years I've been there. Honestly it's not a very good place to work for but I've been able to make my own hours to work around my main job and being there so long has given me a good looking resume.

@LadyAlyxandrea there are benefits to a bad job, I talk to many people who only work because of the benefits, being old gives one access to information not given to everyone. I work and am on SSI and still we have a hard time. There are many people who do not have that I have no idea how they do it. Cudos to you. I looked and reese's I think is spelled right.
