Hi all,

New here. Just figured you may enjoy some of my interview material, which takes a scientific approach to understanding religion.

Eg

I’ve also done devils-advocate style interviews with Jordan Peterson, and produced a (free) open online course on the scientific study of religion for UBC/UC-Irvine & edX:

Would love to hear your feedback on any of the above!

Cheers,
J

Welcome! Unfortunately most of the people on the website except for the conservative group are flaming left wing Obama loving liberals, Trump bashing, gun grabbing liberals who are even worse than the Christain’s! @Gater, @SpikeTalon, @Bigpawbullets

I’m Canadian, so I’d imagine we calibrate our political labels a bit differently 🙂

You got that right. I don't even bother as much with the public threads anymore, the groups are good enough for me.

@SpikeTalon Yes I think I’m going to have to quit them also, as I get to frustrated arguing with those idiots.

Welcome to the site. I am new too. Your videos brought to mind some others I have recently studied which could change some of our ideas of the origin of religion and its importance in the foundation of our modern civilization. By modern I actually mean the time since we domesticated animals and plant. Cities were formed. Of course you may already be familiar with this information. For me it was a fascinating discovery.

The following video is of Gobekli Tepe sites which dates back roughly 12,000 years and the humans were still hunter/gathers.

Gobekli tepes fascinating ... if I remember correctly, we actually discuss it in the ‘big gods’ interview listed above in the OP (although I may be misremembering—it could be in a different one) ... either way, fairly certain it made it into the MOOC:

Oh me! I'm afraid you offer so much material that few here will have time or patience to digest it. I think I'll bring it to the attention of the little philosophy discussion group I'm in and see if we want to watch the (nearly 2-hour!) interview as a group. Maybe others here might like to do the same with their local groups. Also I notice that you have other You Tube programs. Thanks for making these available.

My pleasure. These are the kinds of interviews you can have on in the background while you do the dishes, etc ... My others are available in (edited) podcast form as well (see Transliminal Interviews on SoundCloud), I’ve just yet to convert this latest one. ... More to come!
