Has anyone else noticed that now we have cell phones in our pockets all the time, you no longer need any ambient light to find the bathroom in the middle of the night? Also, does anyone remember phone numbers anymore??
I still trip over anvils in the dark and hit my head on things in the night. Relying on available light will always be my thing.
Pretty sure it's a generational thing. And, I should have left "pocket" out of my post. I sleep naked too, w/ my phone charging on my nightstand. But when you're trying to save on the electric bill, and wake up in complete darkness, it's an extremely useful tool..
And, yes, I have a few important numbers memorized, but I just lost my phone and all my contacts, messages, etc. But it ain't like it was in the 80s, early 90s.. We don't even have payphones anymore! I have noticed, however, that this tech revolution has gimped us in a way. Nobody remembers #s anymore, you just hit a buttton and call.. There's good and bad to this technology.
I couldn't memorise phone numbers even before mobile phones became a thing.
As to using it for a light, I find I do that a lot.
I have 5 phone important phone numbers on a piece of paper written down that I keep in my wallet. Just in case.
Good idea
I have about half a dozen numbers memorized. I don't have to worry about light getting to the bathroom because I have automatic lights. On a side note, I almost always find myself sitting on the toilet messing with my phone...
I don't have mine with me every moment, sometimes I forget to take it when I go places, or if it needs charging I'll leave it even though I have a car charger. But, one place I never thought I'd take it with me was on my mountainbike rides. Now, however, I consider it an extra safety measure when I'm riding. As far as remembering #'s? No need really. Right?
