I blame cell phones. Nobody bothers to put in the effort required to be a gentleman or a lady anymore. 
Well old fuckers like my wife and myself do but we are a dying breed. 
@Surfpirate Good on you old f....s. I think that people are so afraid these days of making fools of themselves that they find it more comfortable being rude and obnoxious. That is a sad state.
