Gene editing is GM, says European Court

The European Court of Justice has ruled that genetically modified plants must be strictly regulated, even if they are no different from natural varieties. A sad day for all who trust scientific facts.

The decision opens the door for deniers of facts in all areas.
If scientific results are of no value with regard to genetic engineering, why should the discussion about climate change be guided by them? Or in medicine?

Good news for America: In one of the top areas of current R&D, Europe has kicked itself out of the game.

An important fact is missing : all (Bayer) GMOs are packed with Roundup, a very toxic pesticide for plant, animal and human cells. Also the GMOs themselves are toxic. This is not science, it is big fraud for big money. Even the animals do not poison themselves. On the other hand, there is no more right and left in the present politics - bandits are trying to dominate all the parties. [gmoseralini.org] "Abstract
Chronic health effects are increasing in the world such as cancers, hormonal, reproductive,
nervous, or immune diseases, even in young people. During regulatory toxicological subchronic
tests to prevent these on mammalian health, prior commercialization of chemicals,
including pesticides and drugs, or GMOs, some statistically significant findings may be revealed.
This discussion is about the need to investigate the relevant criteria to consider
those as biologically significant. The sex differences and the non linear dose or time related
effects should be considered in contrast to the claims of a Monsanto-supported expert panel
about a GMO, the MON 863 Bt maize, but also for pesticides or drugs, in particular to reveal
hormone-dependent diseases and first signs of toxicities." [gmoseralini.org] "A growing body of research suggests that dysbiosis of the gut microbiota induced by environmental pollutants,
such as pesticides, could have a role in the development of metabolic disorders."

Unlike climate change, the negative reaction to GMOs comes largely from the left, and at times resembles a religious movement, more than it does a fact-based, scientifically argued position.

@Matias There are times, it seems, when the EU gets ahead of itself.
