I work as a nurse in a hospital. Yesterday on fb I saw a meme with a cartoon doctor saying "God is the best doctor, and praying is the best medicine." Than why do I have so many patients?! God is negligent in his care! Most of my pts are elderly and very religious. God doesnt appear to be helping them if they are in the hospital with me. In retrospect, how does a loving God allow the CRAZY NASTY diseases I work with daily? Good Christians suffering and dieing an awful death to cancer may be a clue God isnt real!
Some Christians do teach that god uses medical professionals and medical science, that it's part of his plan and it is even officially taught by some that it's the primary means of god's grace in medical matters today. Which is at least not so obnoxiously disrespectful of your efforts on their behalf. But it's still less than giving credit where it's due.
It's arrogant for the religious to say they know god gave the doctor the ability to heal the ailing. No, the doctors and nurses worked their butts off to learn to heal the ailing.
Still waiting for him to re-grow my son-in-law's amputated right foot.
