Some Christians do teach that god uses medical professionals and medical science, that it's part of his plan and it is even officially taught by some that it's the primary means of god's grace in medical matters today. Which is at least not so obnoxiously disrespectful of your efforts on their behalf. But it's still less than giving credit where it's due.

It's arrogant for the religious to say they know god gave the doctor the ability to heal the ailing. No, the doctors and nurses worked their butts off to learn to heal the ailing.

When they say God is the Great Physician, it is like with everything else they attribute to God. The definition of "Physician" is completely skewed in God's favor and entirely different from expectations around that term in any other situation.
