sometimes they seem to be conforting enough to live with as you know that the person giving you one is really probably doing their best to help and thats ok in itself -and some problems are pretty much unfixable so a platitude might just work - It doesnt really bother me recieving them as Iknow the person is trying their best and not fobbing me off they usually just don't know what to say.
