The biggest rule in life is missing. Like Hamlet said, "preparation is all."

Since we can't know what's around most corners, those who have the best lives don't worry about what they can't do; they just spend life building their skills, abilities, and knowledge, never rejecting potential lessons because they don't seem relevant in the moment. That's how we can manage the unexpected.

Like the Buddha said, "when the student is ready, the teacher(s) will appear." And anyone and anything can offer us valuable lessons. And all it takes is an open mind and heart.

The last two in particular are vital, though very difficult to do. However, I wonder how many issues in society are because many people are acting too much and thinking too little. I have friends and family who are always on the go, and don't spend much time thinking about their actions. They are also highly inconsiderate and more likely to cause chaos than order. Even though I am much more a thinker than an actor, I have come to believe it has to be a balance, even if I lose out on some things because I'm not acting enough, or quickly enough.
