Got out for another bike ride today. There is a bike/hiking trail that runs through town I just found out about. Just started riding a bike this year after not riding for 40 years. Part on the side roads, part on paved and hard pack gravel, then wooden planking through a marsh area along side a river. Nice ride about 6 miles long from one end of town to to other. Saw some deer who were pretty close but rambled farther away as I fumbled to get the phone out to snap a photo. On the way back I swung through the cemetery and took a photo of another statue.

That looks like a wonderful multi-use path, with lots to see and spots to pull over and rest or have a picnic! I find that bicycling is something I look forward to every day, so it's a form of exercise I'll actually do and not grumble about it, since I enjoy it so much!

It is a nice ride and runs past a few small parks with the end at a larger park that has the city pool. I try to get out every other day since I am "new" at this after not riding for so long. The biggest pain is the seat, including mine, lol. I bought a seat that is more cushioned and wider meant for seniors, which I qualify, made a big difference.

@Mark013 I also have the wider cushioned seat. (On my bike!) You can also buy shorts that are cushioned. Every other day is good. That's probably what I end up doing on average, due to other things that come up. I like to intersperse my rides with walking and other activities. I'm lucky to have a bike path that goes right by my home, 6 miles in either direction. I usually do 12 miles on the fairly flat coastal path. Stopping for a water break at my turnaround viewpoint. Just the right workout for me and clears my head.

Awesome!

There was a great bike trail that ran the length of Davenport, IA, when I lived there in the late 1970s.
I used to ride both my bike (to work) and my Arabian horse (on the weekends) on that trail since it was like riding through the country..through woods on a creek bank, over small wooden bridges, etc.

How cool is that? Good for you. Bikes are a great way to exercise, easy on the joints, as they say. What gorgeous scenery too; I'm envious. Keep it up

Me too! Lovely day for it thanks to a breeze which prevented it being too hot. Did 25 miles almost all off-road and could have plenty more had I have had time. Also stopped off at a nice cafe for an exceptional slice of flapjack along the route!
