Fiction is a broader category than myth. Myth's are are a form of fiction. Campbell is quoted out of cotext.
Fiction, whether myth, play or what ever is a product of the imagination.

There are many fans of Joseph Campbell's myth theories. For example Clint Eastwood.

Never read the book. I suppose it it just his opinion, he is putting a definition on something quite nebulous because it is about feelings which are very subjective.

Campbell didn't use the word myth the way it is popularly used today to mean falsehood. He was talking about a story composed of symbols that embodied a transcendent truth.
