If you want to get technical with the terminology, a Constitutional Republic is by definition a form of Democracy. Democracy is more of a blanket term that describes a from of government where the people have a voice in governance. In what is called a direct Democracy, the majority rules. We have what is referred to as an indirect Democracy.
