Capitalism vs Socialism.
Capitalism: Give discounts to those who have more money to spend. Therefore, increasing your business profits.
Socialism: Give free materials to those who have no money to spend. Thus, necessitating a higher price charged to those with the ability to buy your goods, and decrease profits by driving away your best customers.

Recognizing everybody is recognizing nobody. That being said, I decline the discount at all locally owned businesses. It doesn’t hurt me to leave a little extra cash circulating in town. I’ll get more.

I should have expected to only get feedback from people like Isdog and Redneckulous. The point that I was trying to make is that there are many people who are not fortunate enough to have been born into an adequately nurturing environment with a compatible genetic makeup, neither of which he or she had a choice, and has by chance not developed into reasonably functional individuals. These are the people, if any, who most need welfare, assistance, or discounts of any type. It is very likely that those who had few options and resorted to the training and security offered by the military are not that dissimilar but, nevertheless, fortunate enough to get in and stay for at least 180 days, even if they accomplish nothing, and enjoy the title and benefits of a veteran. We all have our proverbial crosses to bear but having society favor those who are more fortunate while bearing down on the less fortunate just don't sound like good policy and our prison population is booming.
