Is it strange, considering I am an atheist, that one of my favorite songs is “My Sweet Lord”?

One of my favorite songs is "O Holy Night" -- and I was raised Jewish, so that's a double no-no!

I was also raised Jewish and I sang O’ Holy Night as my Senior Solo when I was in high school. Song still has a place in my heart.

@spiced It has such an awesome melody. And I love the high note near the end.

No. A good song is a good song.

Not at all, in matters of taste anything goes. This is one of my favorite songs:

Several of my favourite pieces of music are religious, as are several of my favourite works of visual art; several of my favourite examples of architecture are places of worship.

I find myself singing Amazing Grace when I walk the dog. It’s not the lyrics, it’s the calming melody.

Agree, it's the energy of the song, not the "message" I love Ernie Ford spirituals. Also the entire attendance sang Amazing Grace at my wife's' memorial. The energy was really comforting.

Amaaaaa-zing dogggg how cuuuuute you arrrrrre.... ???

No. Appreciating art is subjective -- people like what they like. It should never be important to anyone buy you.

I like a lot of old country/bluegrass songs that are pretty darn religious.

No....not at all..I absolutely adore music specifically written and commissioned for religious purposes..Requiems Masses Choral works by the best composers in history dedicated to God etc

Think Bach..Mozart..Handel..etc

And I am a fervent Athiest...music is music..and if it's good it's good..?

One of mine is “Swing Low, Sweet Chariot” (probably not the correct name). And we all love the singing and swinging from some of the best Black churches... eg Sweet Honey in the Rock.

Music is music. If it is beautiful, enjoy it.
