Whilst looking for something elsewhere I encountered the following replacement for the umbrella.
Try putting that in an umbrella stand.
Time was people invented things to solve problems, THAT solves the problem of hang to go to the effort of putting up an umbrella by causing five other problems that should not exist.

                                        It seemingly folds ito a flat circle about six inches in diameter which you can drop in your hand bag, a desk drawer or even sit upon on damp spots!
yep, truly sexy - & promoting not only a sweaty head, but a hug-free society as well.

                                        You can remove it or even tip it up or down to allow hugging.
All heads are sweaty, I forget now the exact percentage of heat lost and expirated from the head.
@FrayedBear, it may be something between 50 & 80%. which in an australian summer will be very welcome
Wow, I didn't know they made a human version of the "Cone of Shame".

                                        Please, what is the "cone of shame"?
@FrayedBear It is a reference to the Pixar movie "Up"
@OuzelWoman None the wiser.
@FrayedBear The cone of shame is what one of the characters(a dog) calls those Elizabethan collars that dogs wear to prevent them from licking or ripping out stitches after a surgery.
