Do u think organization among the outside of the box thinkers would just be like organized religion, or not?

Wow that's an interesting thing to consider! A post a few days ago here got me thinking about how religions seem to have sort of a built in way to organize charitable efforts, like food drives or even international aid--I was wondering how we unbelievers could channel & organize our desire to help others without the undercurrent of pushing religious beliefs on recipients.

Seems like in most non-profits I've been involved with there's plenty of in-fighting, politics, & what not, often to the point where I don't want to be involved anymore. La Leche League has been a huge exception which is one of the reasons I'm still involved though my kids are long weaned. So I'm wondering if trying to organize a bunch of intelligent, independently minded people would end badly, or if we really are smart & rational enough to figure out how to get along, agree on priorities & rules, focus on mutual goals & the integrity of the organization.
