Yeah, working at a rape crisis center, this really is something I think about. Sexual assault is much broader then many think; but how can I flirt without giving implication of sexual assault? We are taught that sexual assault includes verbal communication as well. Not just slapping that fine ass, but saying that ass is fine, if that makes sense.
We have to be VERY mindful that MANY people in our daily lives have been sexually assaulted and likely have been molested, at the least. Many rapes go unreported, so statistics aren't super accurate.
Also, if someone who has been sexually assaulted or raped that you know, SUPPORT THEM. If a person was forced in anyway to have sexual interactions whether that be through physical force, drugs, verbal force, it is sexual assault. It isn't their fault; it is the person who committed the rape or sexual assault who is at fault.
Anyway, each state in the US has a coalition against sexual assault. If you want to find one to support through funding, volunteering, etc. you can find one easily by just googling "coalition against sexual assault in (your state)."
Thanks for my rant - I HATE rape and how convoluted it is and unaware people are about the reality of it. If a girl or guy says no, IT MEANS NO. Don't manipulate, coerce, etc.
I don't know about people. I guess I've been trained in this all my time I was out there working force and know better. Every company I worked for had 2 zero tolerance things to get fired for. Drugs and Sexual harassment. You are blackballed from all plants around here. You might get a job in construction but they also have the same policies. I don't even shake a females hand unless they put their hand out there first. It's always yes and no mam where I come from. I'm pleasant and all business. Where's the job. Let's go look at it. Is it locked out. Let's unlock it and run it. Ok it's your equipment now. I've always minded my own business. Never asked myself if i should approach a female at work. Always kept it clean. Will continue to keep it clean... I'm married. Hope I didn't say to much... I always do.
