This is just a rant. I’ve been arguing all fucking day on fb with an extremely religious “friend” I’ve known for many years. What a waste of time. Her and a friend of hers were shitting all over poor people because they buy disposable diapers, sodas, eating out, xboxes, cell phones, etc. I’ve tried reasoning with them until I’m blue in the face that they don’t know other people’s finances, hardships, sacrifices, and struggles so they shouldn’t pass judgment on them. I pointed out that maybe that used cell phone was a bday/Xmas present from their parents three years ago and that nice pair of sneakers was maybe bought at Goodwill. They don’t fucking know other people’s circumstances. Their reasoning is that they were poor once and struggled and they didn’t have the luxury of disposable diapers and that it’s all about priorities. I pointed out several times that disposable diapers are not a luxury and no daycare nowadays accepts cloth diapers. I pointed out that maybe if they hadn’t tithed 10% + to their church while trying to raise a young family on a shoestring budget then maybe they could have bought disposable diapers or treated their kids to McDonald’s every once in a while. I don’t understand the mentality of people who think poor people should look and act poor in order to satisfy their desires to feel superior. Where is the kindness? Where is the compassion? Fucking religious judgmental assholes. I told the friend of a friend she’s an ignorant twat and to go fuck herself before I eventually blocked her. Maybe not my best shining moment but I don’t give a shit. My friend can go fuck herself too. End rant.
I don't argue or waste my time on wing nut religious people. I just defriend and block them. Then never contact them again.
I have a brother like that. One day when he told yet another story of how he ‘had to’ stop helping an unfortunate family(this one insisted on keeping their cable...ah, the horror???), I finally lost it, and asked: “So...they—the poor—should wear dirty hand-me-down rags, sip cold gruel, and kneel down in their dark silent houses, repenting the sin of being poor?”
Then of course, I was just being an argumentative bitch and trying to start trouble. ???
@AmyLynn Nah: a BULLY is a so-called xtian who tells a family with 5 kids to turn off the cable or he will no longer help pay the electricity, or tells a woman that unless she leaves her alcoholic husband, she’s just shit out of luck on xtian charity...and so on. Ugh, makes me ill.
It's really frustrating when people won't listen to reason.
