Rant to being a middle child!
My siblings can sneeze and get a parade, I've always been the one that gets ignored. I'm weird. Awkward. Maybe a bit annoying with how excited I get over small things. But damn. I thought my dream job would be worth a little something.
Come to think of it. Even my friends were less than happy. Facebook friends I never see were all caps and emojis but in real life people fall short.
Is it hard for people to react and be interested if it's not negative gossip? Is it harder now to celebrate other peoples victories when a Facebook post is enough?

Maybe middle children look for things others don't care about so get them...Just wondering. I would do something fun for yourself. That always works out better for me anyway. Congratulations on your new job. Just don't let jobs and other things be the carrots you chase after to be happy, or others caring either.

...I want to celebrate something with my family and friends...is that really a bad thing? I want to share my happiness and not celebrate alone.. that doesn't seem as pathetic as your reply makes it seem but maybe I'm not reading it right.

As needy as this post makes me seem, I'm super easy to please Haha. My kid made me a card so I'm happy.
Might I add these same people threw me 3 baby showers and a coming out party. They're usually very enthusiastic. But now it's just a Facebook reaction. It's weird. Maybe they set the bar too high and now I actually do expect a reaction.
Being the middle kid is awesome, nobody is focused on messing with your shit, you can do whatever you want and nobody bothers you unless you are dumb enough to get caught doing something stupid. The bullshit the eldest kid goes through is something I wouldn't wish on my enemies nevermind my overbearing elder sibling and being the sucky little baby of the family, how shitty is that?

As a middle child I have to agree! I'm not the first not the last and not the only boy in the Middle With Me. Being invisible had its perks!
@SukiSue I always liked it when my father forgot my name, he'd be all pissed off about something and my older brother would be catching shit for something he had done because he was such a little shit and my father would just forget about me when it was time to pass out the paddlings, dead fucking brilliant! lol
My accomplishments went largely unrecognized by my failures and indiscretions also were water unnoticed as well, probably just as well. Some of my family members are still unaware that I am a master builder, have a medal from the Governor General of Canada and an IQ that qualifies me for a membership in MENSA and when I was traveling around the world with my wife and best friend they just figured I was off doing something unimportant. Blessed are the halfwits of the world.
Great attitude. I heard something on NPR I think it was NPR that middle children are becoming more rare. Many have 1 or 2 children. I am the only child, and have friends who have 1 child. I relive the neurosis of their parents only having one kid to be neurotic about. Celebrate being born, order schmorder....

@Surfpirate I actually live in creston. It's even better.
@Peeves I lived in Calgary for 4 years and then moved to northern Vancouver Island after that for another 5 years, so I passed through your part of the province many times. Pretty country.
