I don't like what you have to say or how you say it...

Is this kind of response really necessary? I don't know about you but I don't often read things that are irritating unless I want to be irritated, which is not very often.
Now if someone writes something overtly discriminatory or written specifically to outrage I may read it and if compelled will respond.
I am the first to admit that my posts tend to meander and one thought flows into another. I write it down and sometimes I share, and when I do inevitable someone complains, even thought the bulk of the responses tend to be positive. I figure if someone doesn't like what I have to say or how I say it they would move on, I'm just sharing thoughts here, no vital knowledge. And it's not that I can't stand criticism, it's just that they seem to be voicing their particular preference. I am many things but a professional writer or blogger I am not . And while the criticism is given with a aim to be helpful it only help discourage me from sharing my thoughts.

I'm thrilled if I've shared something that resonates with someone and I wish I had more time to respond to everyone. But someone who is criticizing seeming to the purpose of criticizing just take the wind out of my sails. It's fine to disagree but nothing I say should be taken so seriously, this is not my job, I'm just trying to spark a conversation.

Life is short, how are you using your time?

I see a lot of responses that simply add NOTHING to the discussion and can only assume that they were merely trying to gain points. If, for example, I ask, "What's your favorite car?", why the fuck tell me, "I ride a bike."? That's nice. Now, go play some Frogger and ride your bike into freeway traffic, where your contribution would be more valued.
Keep posting and never mind the locusts.

Well stated... why you no good... jajaja.
A forum for expression... maybe it sparks one’s interest, maybe not... move on, it’s not so important.

I've only posted twice. I had somebody tear into me about one of the posts...and go on and on using personal insults. I was shocked, as it was a harmless meme; and I couldn't believe anyone on this site would so harshly judge. Needless to say, I'm now a bit hesitant to put myself out there. I'm sure I'll get over it...

Hi Anne... an some ignorant person didn’t appreciate your post, pardon the expression, but f-em. Nothing I’ve read here is memorable... there are some very witty people here, some not as much...I sound like trump. It’s kinda like an AA meeting... had to promise to go through that for a short or they wouldn’t pay my hospital bill.
AA’s ok, it’s the people that are messed up... I still drink, I just use a different name

I think you might want to put your first part in quotes. It took me a bit to figure out what was going on.

I fully agree. If you don't like it, click on by. This is what I constantly teach the one-third-under-23 55,000 members of my group. Click on past. A topic involving homosexuality and you are a heterosexual extremist? Click on past. No need to say "I don't see why this has to come up."

My first post here was about the definition of atheist and agnostic. The first comment was about how unnecessary my post was because someone posted about it in tbe past (duh, that is what this site IS. Expect more than one conversation.) I think a couple people agreed. I was hurt. Then it turned into a long, fascinating, and informative thread. Find it on my profile. There are a couple of really neat charts. So F.U. to those first few people who felt they had to criticize my thread.

I teach them "Just because you have a thought does not mean you have to write it down.

(That is one I desperately need to learn myself, btw. Because I talk too much and listen too little!)

Also "Do not think about whether you WANT to say it. Think about what its EFFECT will be on other people.

Sooner or later , I think, we all run into those who don't like whatever we've written .
