What decade is your favorite music from? What age were you in your favorite music decade? For me it's the 60s when I was age 4-13. Plus I'm from Detroit and it's when Motown was big.
My favorite 10-year period of music is probably the mid-1960's to the mid -1970's. Beatles, Doors, CCR, Stones, Blood Sweat & Tears, Cream, Sabbath, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Doobie Bros., Elton John, Linda Ronstadt, Jethro Tull, 3 Dog Night. In the 1990's and early 2000's, I came to deeply love Alanis Morissette and her music.
Same here. Plus I loved rock in the 70s, 60s,
I love morose indie pop music from the '80s and '90s, when I was a teen in high school and a young adult in college. Cocteau Twins, Clan of Xymox, This Mortal Coil, Bauhaus, Siouxsie, Joy Division, the Smiths, Nick Cave, Tom Waits, Throwing Muses, Pale Saints, Lush, Stereolab, Broadcast, etc.
I listen to a lot of crust and black metal from the 90s, even though I didn't discover any of it until around 2005-2015...
I’m in my 20’s now but ever since I stopped being stubborn about liking “real music” I’ve really come to enjoy today’s music. By “real music” I meant people playing actual instruments who sounded at least similar both live and post studio editing. It was usually ‘80s and ‘90s that I was talking about.
I realized a few things: that a lot of today’s music is directly influenced by that music; that there are many more “real” artists out there today than there ever were before, not all of them are good (just like before) but you never know who’s going to be the next “classic” artist of their genre in 40 years; that, for me, it’s not about how they play their music, but about how the music makes you feel; and finally, that many older artists just don’t sound the same or have the same energy as they used to.
