I'm very careful about sun protection, it has to be factor 50 UVA & UVB protection! My grandmother had a melanoma, my dad had a BCC and I have type 1 skin. My eldest is the same as me I'm quite serious about protecting his skin and my youngest gets the sermon to! I get really pissed off when people don't listen to me about the level of protection needed! I don't care what you do for yourself put decent sun protection on my kids if they're in your care! I'm happy to provide it! But I will get pissed if you don't use decent sun protection after turning down my offer to provide it!
"Sunbrella" company makes a wide range of clothing and protective gear with spf 60 built in...not cheap, but well-made and it works. There are a lot of chemicals in sunscreen creams!
I used to burn to a crisp when I was young but my skin has turned to a form of leather so it's not an issue now but my youngest has very fair skin and it just makes common sense to use a decent sun cream, quite apart from the long term effects it's f---ing painful
