When I was in high school my biology teacher was about to retire and he was so scared that his pension would be taken away he completely skipped all the chapters on evolution. He simply said " I don't want to piss anyone off so we aren't doing these lessons if you wish you can read them and ask me questions after class" sadly this wasn't surprising as most of the people in my town are highly religious. Teachers
shouldn't be afraid of losing their jobs for teaching what they are supposed to.

I'm glad my Biology teacher didn't skip it when I was in high school. Though I was a creationist at the time, his words were among the many that had an influence when I did finally recognize the fraud that is "Creation Science".

It's amazing when "telling the truth" can carry such heavy consequences.

His first duty as a teacher should have been educating and inculcating in his young pupils a thirst for knowledge and truth. Any Biology teacher who would decide to skip the chapters on evolution should not be allowed to call himself a teacher never mind a science teacher!

Could he really have lost his pension over this or was this just some irrational fear?
