Warning the following link contains horrific photographs of terrible crimes committed against new born babies and their parents following the use of depleted uranium.
Would any god allow this to happen?
Not gonna follow the link, if you don't mind. Seems like kind of a rhetorical question to this audience. It might be more interesting to discuss what kind of PEOPLE would allow this to happen...
@chicagojcb
I put the warning up because the photos are horrific and I certainly do not wish to traumatise anybody.
I thank you for that observation and correction. But no, I don't think it is rhetorical and your changing it to people is indeed correct for each and everyone of the believers creates their god within their brain.
I seem to recall that the leaders at the time this all commenced, Bush, Balir and Howard, are all professed Christians.
My suggested reply to you : monsters, psychopaths, sociopaths and narcissists.
The next question is what should be done to-
Rectify the contamination and compensate the victims
Stop it from ever happening again
Deal with the culprits ... And not just the leaders.
I am fascinated that oil tanker and other leaks result in big clean up operations and compensatory payments but not this. Perhaps some of A.com legal fraternity can explain this? @lerlo?
@FrayedBear having been a prosecutor for 20 years I'm a bit violenced out so I didnt look at the clip. If you want to tell me what happened I can weigh in but generally for a civil case you need someone who has been harmed to sue the person who caused the harm and prove that they breached some duty owed to that person.
@lerlo We are talking the result of American and allies inhumanity to humankind in the Middle East where shells made out of depleted uranium now contaminate large areas. As a result of the now ambient radioactivity babies are being born with horrific deformities. That contamination will continue for tens if not hundreds of thousands of years.
@FrayedBear Well such a case would be brought in the World Court. The problem is what real teeth and enforcement power it has over the U.S. if the U.S. would be convicted. In my opinion there really is no international law unless the parties agree to be bound by it.
@lerlo Exactly. Like snowballs surviving the furnace. I seem to recall that uncle Sam still has not paid reparations for Vietnam. Elsewhere on this site I have made mention of Australia's failure to honour international covenants made to the rest of the world.
IMO however it is such behaviour that leads to other parts of the world hating individual countries for such behaviour. It is simply the behaviour of the unconscionable bully and hypocrite.
@FrayedBear and @lerlo this is the kind of thing that brings me to despair. Religions that say "we are all equal in God's eyes" are complete bullshit. Not a single one of them practices that. Neither does any government that I know of. We suck as a species, really.
