Curiously to the religious, there is a lot of comfort in not knowing everything and not questioning a magical santa in the sky. There is a lot of comfort in my atheist existence. I didn't sit on my sofa last night wondering why santa has not done this or given me a sign for that. At no point was I asking santa for help or guidance.

I know that my mother gets a lot of comfort from her belief in that santa, but how much comfort could she really have if she needs me to believe as well for her comfort??

I never confronted my parents. ...dad never asked me anything about religion never said anything about gonads or procreation by humans did point at the bulls & boars mounting cows&sows as we drove by .....mom would ask denial sorts of questions like you get guidance from prayer don't you ? My answer was always no but what ever floats your boat.... the now I lay me down to sleep if I should die before I wakeep prEyer I was forced to recite age 4 scared me every time.....zero comfort from 2 soles on my feet nor " prEy the lard my sole to take" ....when I asked where age 4 they said heaven but I thought it was cold up in the clouds

Religion seems to have monopolised comfort as its own. Really , this is just another human emotion

Fake monopoly. ..zero comfort from the alleged monopolists

Its a comfort knowing that I have been wrong and now I feel right about religion. I don't have to worry about hell and whats a sin.

Our Atheism is the only gospel good news as John Lennon sang NO HELL BELOW US ABOVE US ONLY SKY

@GreenAtheist. Alrighty!

The sad thing is that if she could convince you, as soon as the new wore off, she would still have the same discomfort.

I have seen some religious people who believe God ALWAYS answers their questions or ALWAYS shows them signs. There is no debating it for them. They "just know". It's a kind of bliss for them I suppose.

As for your mother, she is probably trying to get comfort in knowing that you will not burn in hell forever if she can somehow get you to believe too lol

how can anyone possibly know everything anyway?

I think religion is a crutch. It keeps people from growing. Gives them excuses for their faults. God made them that way and such. It’s convenient and weak-minded people need someone else to blame for everything.

Some just don't know when to not push their will, wants, desires, and beliefs on others...
She just wants what she still believes is best for your mortal soul after you leave this realm...
As for me... plant food... rest just goes off like a burnt out lightbulb.

Its more comfortable to have her children believe the same as she does. Her security blanket.

If she wants it you can fake it, for the sake of your mother. Nothing wrong in it.
