I have introduced myself yet, I’m Amber, mother of 3 beautiful little girls. I’m a stay at home mom. And have always questioned my faith to God. But recently came out to my families about it. Living under the Bible Belt has definitely made it very hard! Any help would be appreciated!

Welcome here from me too. You have already done the hardest part, it took a lot of courage to tell your family so well done. We all love our families and want their approval, but we owe it to ourselves to follow our own hearts and minds. You don’t tell us how they reacted when you told them, but I presume they didn’t take the news well. It will be hard for you because you will probably be feeling guilt tinged with relief that you’ve taken that first step. It will be scary, especially if there are no others around who are like minded...it will feel very isolating. It is always easier in life to be one of a like minded group, it feels secure because we are herd animals. You mention your three daughters and they naturally must be your first priority, but you don’t say anything about a partner. Whatever your domestic circumstances, and no matter how hard it is, stay strong, You have found in us here a refuge...you can voice your fears and difficulties and be assured we will do our best to give you advice and support.

My father is still to this day texting and trying to change my thoughts on it all. My mother litterly laughed and said I’m just being silly. They are just so blinded. I just don’t understand!
I do have a husband. He believes in God also. But is open to seeing why I don’t know and has even admitted on a few occasions that he himself doesn’t know. He never tries to guilt me into anything like everyone else does tho. Thankfully he is much more understanding. However did tell me at first that it hurt him for me to think there was possibly no God!

@AmberTipton05 I’m glad your husband is at least open to listening to your views. We sometimes grow away from our parents when we become adults. We are fully independent beings and free to think different thoughts from them....I hope they come to respect your views and accept that you no longer believe in god. True believers think the rest of us are going to go to hell, so they will feel concern out of love for you.

Hi Amber! Welcome to the site! Even surrounded by bible thumpers, maybe especially then, be true to yourself, your beliefs and your convictions. You're not alone.

Thank you! It has definitely been rough!

Just tell people your waiting for a sign on which church you should be going to, and they should leave you alone. As long as you believe in an invisible man in the sky, they think your safe. They are mostly scared of women that have individual thoughts and think for themselves.

Hi, Amber, and welcome to the website!

Likely most of the people here have gone though this, so can help you.

By the way, this website has a bit of a learning curve.

For members who are open to dating, certain thumbnails and profiles have a heart symbol on them with a percentage. This identifies which members are open to dating, and the percent shows approximately how compatible others are with them.

You can improve your website score in general by uploading a clear, recent photo of your face, answering all the profile questions, and writing a bio, which also earns website points, and helps other members get to know you.

Commenting on posts and writing your own posts earns more points. At level two you can private message people, and at level eight you get an agnostic T-shirt.

For member who want to date, the website uses profile algorithms to find member matches, so the more details one includes, the better the match.

Many people prefer to see a written profile talking about interests, hobbies, and backgrounds that can be quickly perused to find friends who are compatible with them.

In case you didn't know yet, to find members near you, click on the "Browse" button at the top of the page, then on "Members," and enter your preferred search parameters.
Click on the "Discuss" button, then "Nearby" to find members near you also.
Or click on the "About" button at the top left of the page to find links to FAQ or the website tutorial.
Points are now being given to level 3+ members who chat. You can see chat rooms on the group main page or at [agnostic.com].

Thank you for all the information! I will look into it more !
