I’m thinking about dumping Netflix. I haven’t really watched anything for the last few weeks and nothing seems to hold my attention. Why is this such a major decision? What makes me so hesitant to get rid of it?
Taking a break from the constant TV binge might be a refreshing change. It opens up space for other activities that can be more fulfilling and beneficial in the long run. Totally get that it's not the easiest thing to quit though – habits die hard, right?
By the way and while we are at it....any recommendations for streaming services like Roku? How does that work? Is it good or recommended? Thanks in advance. I know I can google it, I rather talk to first hand experience fellow human potential friends !!
Roku is a device, not really a service. It will allow you to get Netflix, SlingTV, Amazon, HBONow, etc on your TV. Lots of free channels, too, but they are independent and range from religion to porn.
@pokerboss77 Thanks. One more question, in simple terms, what would you say is the benefit of buying the device?
@IamNobody If you want to stream on an actual television, it's handy if your TV is not "smart." Many TVs now have Roku built in, or their own apps to stream services. Individual platforms (each tv brand) are unlikely to be supported for much longer, and Roku, AppleTV, FireStick and the like will take over.
@pokerboss77 oky doky. I have found a Roku device for old component video (RCA jacks), that seems compelling since I still have a large proyection TV that refuse to die. Thanks for the info !!!
I saw that list yesterday and watched "The Imitation Game." It was pretty good.
Because they'll always be adding something decent.
Inertia. Do it. If you miss it, re-subscribe. I had a subscription for just two months, primarily because I wanted to re-watch The Girl in The Dragon Tattoo trilogy. I do not miss it.
My account was closed for weeks before I realized, but that's because hulu had more anime on it, that updates every day.
But it wasn't my Netflix it was my best friends mom's lol
I'd sooner give up my balls, not really but I'd have to think about a long time.
It's $10 A month, or less, and you can Always get it back, in a heartbeat! Why not try HULU instead for awhile?
Make sure to try Detectorists before you get our the trimmers.
I was on the same path until I got that random suggestion. Now I want a DMDC fleece, but Im not running for club president. Only 2 seasons on Netflix at this point.
I will check that out
@Lady-DebianLinux All 3 seasons are on Amazon Prime if you have that.
There are other streaming services. Most offer the first month free. Try them, If you don't like any of them, then turn off your TV and stick with Youtube.
Fear of missing out.
The thought of "what if" something just happens to come to Netflix that you want next week, and you miss out.
Just cut the ties. It isn't an irreversible decision, you can always sign on again if there is truly a need for it. But for now....
Dump it, and enjoy its absence.
