FYI The monolithic Marriott International hotelier company, whose founding family remains active in the Mormon church purchased the Starwood chain two years ago and began systematically requiring copies of the Bible and Book of Mormon be placed in its 300,000 hotel rooms. Marriott doesn't own all 6,500 hotels but they now require in their licensing agreement placing Bibles and The Book of Morman.
In my view, this is how religion, despite its superstitious nature, is perpetuated throughout societies without substantiation of its dogmas. GODZOOKS
I'll find other hotel accommodations in the future.

That’s propaganda for you. Why not have something by Thich Nhat Hanh or Dawkins alongside those two, if you want to give readers a start in comparative theology.

Probably not a bad idea. Thank you.

This is common occurrence of defacement in Marriott hotels

A batshit crazy story!

@rogueflyer that's an understatement, Batshit (Guano) has some value

They can knock themselves out, it doesn't change that 99% of people have zero interest in either of those books, even should they stumble upon them in the dresser drawer. I can't imagine it being any more effective than putting Fuller Brush flyers in the drawer -- does anyone seriously think the Fuller Brush company would get a resulting sales bonanza from that?

Now what would get me all up in arms is if they required people to read those books in order to book reservations in the hotel. I actually wish they'd try that, and endure the consequences.

I think the muddled thinking on this misguided method of promotion, is that people are often alone and lonely and reflecting on their shit life when in a hotel, but the reality is that they are trying to have a nice time and NOT think about their lives, particularly in an upscale hotel. Also, most people by now have already tried religion and dismissed it as a viable option for improving one's life, unless improving one's life involves things like being debased as a lowly worm dangling over the fires of hell, risking that your children will be sexually molested, and believing things that will increase your self-loathing and add beliefs about magic underwear to the mix.

You're right. The tide is turning. This may be a negative for them.
