I love nature. We have deer, fox and many birds who frequent our neighborhood. I love the sound of the stream, and the water lapping the lake shore. I like to walk in the snow, I used to down hill and cross country ski. I like that funny feeling on a fishing pole when a fish nibbles your bait. I used to hunt but now I just like to watch. I like the smell of the ocean, the sound, and the bounty it provides. I like the view of the land scape from a mountain vista.

Most of all I like the serenity of nature. Every tree makes a different sound as a small wind blows through the forest.

How do you enjoy nature?

I like hiking, camping, kayaking, fishing, and generally being in the woods. I do buy a hunting license every year, but haven't hunted in years. I still enjoy target shooting and plan to get back into shooting competitively soon.

Sounds like we have much in common.

I'm with you! I specialise in studying butterflies (and moths) and, in particular, their ecology so that appropriate conservation measures (such as habitat management) are put in place. But the best part of nature is that it's absolutely free 😉 Some city dwellers just don't get the countryside, and never will, unfortunately - and they're missing out big time.

I like to enjoy it by engaging with it rather than killing it.

I love nature as well. I like to take pictures of flowers in the Spring and Summer. I love hiking.

You mentioning your love of the sound of water brought back memories of backpacking trips I've taken. Some friends and I used to backpack in the Smokies. We'd walk close to a stream, and the running water would sound so lovely, until you'd been walking by the creek for an hour. It's funny how such a relaxing sound can drive you nuts after a while. The path we were walking would eventually bens away from the water, and the quiet would be very welcome.
I live in East Tennessee where we are gifted with some beautiful outdoors. Besides hiking, we have bike trails, and lots of places to fish, kayak rock climb and backpack. I don't go backpacking or rock climbing any more, because the people I used to go with either died, moved away or just don't go any more, but I still try to do all the rest.

I am an organic gardener. I love all things that visit the garden. Kayaking on big lake and taking it all in is My idea of "church"

Naw, it's a lot better than church.

mostly on tv being where I live and how I am. I do have a big fish pond and my own chunk of river in my living room that I love and my dogs.

My fishing is like your hunting, I often don't even bother to drop a line in, just drift along a quiet waterway. I sleep on he beach often, or go for bushwalks that last a few days, no destination, just melt into the natural world.
