It doesn't really matter. The answer to all questions about absolutes is the same as the answer to the question "How far do I have to walk before I am in danger of falling off the edge of the Earth?"

It’s difficult for me to follow that line of thinking for long. Humanity has a vivid and fairly well documented history, reviewing that history shows no sign of an alternate.
