Now these are some nice lists. The only items mentioned I have actually read are Hitchiker's(and it's sequels), Hell House, Huck' Finn, and Mockingbird.

okay now for the rest of the list... well as much of a list as i can come up with off the top of my head at almost three in the morning.

any book you can find by nevil shute, geoffrey household, janwillem van de wetering, laurens van der post, any of the above authors, jane austen

i have left off books like huckleberry finn and to kill a mockingbird because i am guessing you've already read them. if i am wrong, go for it!

that's all for now. maybe i will think of more later. i am sure i will be shocked when i realize what i have forgotten!
