" On the one hand we are called to play the Good Samaritan on life's roadside; but that will be only an initial act. One day we must come to see that the whole Jericho road must be transformed so that men and women will not be constantly beaten and robbed as they make their journey on life's highway. True compassion is more than flinging a coin to a beggar; it is not haphazard and superficial. It comes to see that an edifice which produces beggars needs restructuring. A true
revolution of values will soon look uneasily on the glaring contrast of poverty and wealth...and say ‘This is not just.'' MLK
Thank you...I had completely forgotten that.
That's why we are here,to remind ourselves that we are still human beings.
People have been beaten and robbed on life's highway since the beginning of time. No more or less now than back in prehistory. The vast disparity between rich and poor in the modern U.S. has gotten drastically larger in recent decades, and with the repeal of the Estate Tax and just about everything else on Trumps agenda, it is about to get a whole hell of a lot worse. As much as I reveir Dr. MLK, that quote may be inspirational, but I don't know how prophetic it is. The only way that the poor are going to come out on top of this class war, is by organizing and mobilizing forces. Taking over a prison, or something of that nature. Id imagine that Bloods and Crips and other rival gangs could be united for such a cause. But the poor will never come out on top through ways of legislation or peaceful protests
Agreed
I 'know' your frustration! Sometimes...i, who would hardly blow-up a balloon...sometimes, feels like single handedly, blowing up the 'system'...then the vision of body parts crosses my mind...I am not ready for that...
