Do you think the human species may undergo an evolutionary split soon?? i.e. Cybernetic augmentation VS advancing medicine...?

I don't think cybernetics would count toward "evolution" since is cannot be passed to offspring. An artificial version is currently underway in the form of gene therapy.

evolutionary splits happen fast for fruit flies. for us it would not be noticeable by any individual, probably not by any culture. these things don't just BOOM happen. cybernetics won't cause anything like an evolutionary split.

I wouldn't call this split "evolutionary" because it has nothing to do with the evolutionary process but is just artificial. But as technology progresses transhumanism is something that is worth thinking about. I really hope until then we have figured out more of a fair society, not to gently slide into an dystopian nightmare.

I initially thought along the same lines as you, but I think man is part of nature and whatever man does is natural or evolutionary regardless of how we normatively classify it.

A lot has been written about the CRISPR, if there is going to split, I think it will probably be genetic.

I also see human beings as part of nature but I don't see individual choices or events as evolution, but I guess that's just a semantic disagreement.
