I don't know why, but I'm feeling a bit out of place here. I am anti religious, but it seems like there is more to this group than that. Lots of political bashing and other whiny bantor I don't have a taste for. Is it just me, or did we trade one clique for an equally offensive other?

There all different people here. Focus on the things that interest you and disregard the rest. Like others have mentioned, check out some of the groups. Takes a little time also to get your footing here, but once you do you'll find it's great community.

BTW, nice profile. I think you'll fit in fine.

@bleurowz thanks. I actually have joined a few groups and interacted a bit. Im not complaining, I'm just noting my observation here.

Lol... Try the offender's group. We have fun but we don't use politics to do so... Lol

You can't control what people say obviously but you can control your reaction to what they say. If you can get this down you'll be okay and your experience here will be very enjoyable!

Pot calling the kettle black? After having been here since only September 10?

How is that pot calling the kettle black? No need to get defensive here, I'm not attacking any one.

You obviously haven’t really browsed through everything properly. There are countless different groups you could join, the majority of them politics free. We are not all American or interested in politics...no need to read or respond to US policital rants. What we do have in common is a dislike of religious people ramming their views down our throats and making us feel we are morally inferior. This place is an oasis of reason in a desert of ignorance as far as I am concerned. Not being American I can just let the “whiny banter” wash over me.

@Anniemae Thanks.

Extremely well said! There are even groups that make fun of the complainers, ranters and whiners.

@SukiSue Takes all sorts....but we can all rub along hopefully.

@Marionville obviously....

this isn't just a place to talk about how atheist we all are. that would get kind of boring! i think it's more a place to talk about whatever we want, without having to put up with that "it's in god's hands now" stuff every time we identify a problem.

if you don't like politics, don't read the political stuff!

if you don't like whiny banter, don't look at the whiny banter.

it's not like facebook, where all your friends' crap shows up on your page and you have to scroll past all the pictures of tormented animals and lost children who actually got found two years ago, or everyone's dinner. here you choose by clicking.

also, in what way is this a clique? we're all different, we don't all know each other, there are, so far, a few hundred of us unless i've misread the numbers, and we don't all hang out together. this isn't like hanging out at the same cafe. this is like hanging out in the same city. you choose where you go and whom you see.

Have you looked at the music groups, the gardening group, the sex groups ...?

Yes, I have. I have several of both.

There are all kinds of people here, just like anywhere else. I just avoid the folks/groups I have no interest in.
