Are you a "Hummer"? Have you heard of the phenomenon called The Worldwide Hum?

I have heard the hum. I have no idea of the source, and there seems to be no absolute scientific explanation that is universally accepted.

Check out this BBC produced video, if this topic interests you, or if you have heard "the hum":

I am familiar with the concept but I am not a hummer.

Originally, the term "hummer" brought to mind the slang meaning of "hummer" as a blow job.

The somatosound sounds reasonable. When I take refuge in my home theater, (build like an anechoic chamber) I can hear the sound of blood pumping through my body and the high frequency of my "Nervous system?"

for some, the observation that the sound is dependent on physical well being suggests a processing error (form of tinnitus). If memory serves, tinnitus is not generated in the ear but is a processing error of the brain. I occasionally have tinnitus when exposed to high sound pressure levels.

Nope. But I'm hard of hearing.

I heard it too. The doc said it was tinnitus.

Yes, that could very well be. That is one of the speculative causes. There are a great number of possibilities, as noted in the video.

No explanation. Hmm, must be caused by god!

There is much speculation as to the origins, nothing concrete as yet. Yes, maybe THE DEITY humming out his/her favorite note, eh?

@Condor5 The divine "Brown Note"

@NoMagicCookie too funny, I love South Park.
