A destiny for mankind:
Non-human Intelligence is with us. It will improve perhaps exponentially. It will be able to improve itself. I can foresee perhaps two future scenarios for us. The first could be utopia; the second perhaps the opposite. When non-human intelligence, created inside compute systems, is so far advanced, I would like me - my electronic psyche (EPsychE - pronounced EEE SY KEE - you heard it here first folks) to be created inside that compute system. It will be me in every respect except it will not have - it will not need - the physical biological appendage that is required in the real world to sustain my real psyche. Identical psyche but independent. Id be able to interact with my EPsychE. Now when I die my EPSyche would live on - forever, potentially. Why would humanity then continue to need to continue in the physical space? No poorly designed (I am being poetic here - I know it evolved OK!) 'bio-bags' that break down, crap, need constant refuelling. And then I could be transmitted at the speed of light anywhere in the universe). OK, You get the picture - you can infer and think for yourselves now. The second is similar but instead of us being created as ePSychEs (plural now - confusing isn't it?), instead, new ePSychEs are made by themselves and then seek to annihilate us). The end is the same though. Life (and no ...not as we know it cliches, please) in 'e' format.
So, not the best movie but definitely is related to these thoughts.
2036 Origin Unknown [g.co]
well, it's fanciful enough, but not especially likely. (if it did happen, it is also unlikely that either extreme would be the result; it would probably be quite mundane. it would come upon us as the internet itself did, and we would be well used to it without really thinking about it.)
