"Owning our story can be hard but not nearly as difficult as spending our lives running from it. Embracing our vulnerabilities is risky but not nearly as dangerous as giving up on love and belonging and joy - the experiences that make us the most vulnerable. Only when we are brave enough to explore the darkness will we discover the infinite power of our light" ~ Brene' Brown

This reminds me of something I wrote some number of years ago...

"...The one thing I do know to be fact, you must be true to yourself! This can only happen when you look deep inside and see the real you. Beyond perceptions. Beyond facades. Beyond how we'd like others to see us as. It takes courage to look into the mirror and acknowledge our weaknesses, imperfections, bad habits, and less than desirable traits. Embrace that knowledge. They can help make you a better human!"

Maybe. But women who chase after love and men are only showing how needy and desperate they are. Better to live our own lives with joy and let people come to us.

@Stacey48 The quote says, "not nearly as dangerous as giving up on love and belonging and joy" as though the women need to chase after them. BAD advice. Let men and love chase after US, and we just go about our business of being happy.

@Stacey48 Exactly.

Although I experienced the one Brene' Brown book I've read as a slog, I agree with this particular quote. Most of us spend our lives denying our "shadow" and it's a fool's errand.
