I wonder how much happier our society would be if we weren't taught that having kids makes us whole. How many parents have abandoned their families because they just can't do it? How many single parents are barely surviving because it's so hard? How many people stay together even when they are miserably unhappy because of the kids? To say nothing of the effect these situations have on the kids themselves and the load on the environment. I'm not begrudging anyone having a family, but I wish that being child free was more normalized. For some of us, it is the right choice. I'm sure there are things I'll miss about having a kid, but I sure am happy with my freedom.

There is a Childfree group on here...are you in it?

I once wrote the pregnancy test people and told them that their commercials were misleading since most women who used them sighed in relief if they weren't pregnant and that they needed to normalize child-free women by showing them "jumping up and down with happiness that the pregnancy test showed not-pregnant".
I never heard back from them. LOL

HA! I had the exact same reaction to those commercials! ?

Yup. But good thing people aren't very introspective because our Caucasian population is already going extinct, due to failure to replace ourselves.

Strangely, there are women who actually want to reproduce and proudly take the risk and compromise of their figures to have children. It seems to be hardwired into most cis hetero women and men, but the drive to reproduce must be strong, or the human race will disappear for good.

Link: Japan population is going extinct from a lack of children, and it seems likely there will be even fewer in the future.

Japanese researchers have now warned of a doomsday scenario if it carries on this way with the last child to be born there in 3011 and the Japanese people potentially disappearing a few generations later.
