I might be crazy, but if I was accused of something and I didn't do it, I'd WANT an investigation.

35 years ago???????.... Seriously??????

Once a rapist...

@Secretguy I do not condone rapist, lets make that clear. To keep "something" for 35 years and all of a sudden "oh by tha way, I think ....etc" it's just so convenient and I cannot believe our system is so shaky right now that a lot of people is eating it all up. However, due process must be the way to go and things should go both ways... You say once a rapist and I say once a lier.... Why do we keep doing this to ourselves?????

You know, if it were murder (or to make the analogy more accurate, attempted murder) no one would have anything to say about the timespan. Somehow, we have this view that rape is not as big of a deal. IT IS.
If it was your sister/daughter/mother who was victimized, would you still put a time limit on the truth? I hate to even use that paradigm because it's such a fucking shitty one (the fact that it's another human being should be more than enough), but I really want to know if you'd make the same argument if it was a women you cared about.

@ghettophilosopher apples to apples. Let's leave emotions out of this. The argument here is why she waited 35 years to the precise moment where the "accused" is in such a milestone. Do you really believe the same would have happened if the judge would have been an average Joe? That's the only argument I am talking about. You can cut it any way you like, I'll keep saying what I think is wrong with this picture

@IamNobody If you knew how many STAYED unreported, that wouldn't be the question you'd be asking. Furthermore, anyone in a position to become such a prominent figure in society -president, congressman, Supreme Court justice, etc.- MUST be held to the highest standard (which by the way, not having attempted rape is NOT a higher standard, it's a STANDARD). There can be no time limit with regard to said standard, PARTICULARLY with a lifelong appointment. How unimaginable would it be to have not one, but TWO lifelong justices who felt sexual harassment and assault were not serious offenses?
Beyond that, the argument of convenience is garbage unless she also knew the future. The fact that she spoke of the incident with her husband and her therapist back in 2012 -statements that can be very easily verified- throws the claims of convenience AND lying right out of the window. It's the easiest fact for the FBI to investigate (if they were to actually TRY) and hardest to discount. That is, unless you're going to argue the Doc Brown and Marty McFly hopped out of their Delorean and told her that Kavenaugh was going to ruin the country if she didn't stop him...
Finally, I'll bet dollars to donuts that very few people making these specious arguments on Kavenaugh's behalf were making these same arguments in defense of Al Franken. The moral and ethical concern, while paper thin, is one thing, but politicized arguments are trash and should be tossed.
But as a side note, some evidence of the Back to the Future, lies of convenience theory...

@IamNobody P.S. The caps are for emphasis. I'm not yelling.
No emotion involved.

@ghettophilosopher I don't know Kavanaugh and I wasn't there either. Everyone is just to quick to declare him guilty. Let's see if the process in place works to establish what happened but as of right now, like it or not you just don't know. And again, likely this is nothing else than dirty political tactics that at the end of the day tarnish way more than the individuals allegedly involved. I don't have to convince no one neither do you. Time will tell.
